Growing Forward: Our Sacred Places Journey

Growing Forward masthead

Our Sacred Places Indiana New Dollars/New Partners journey is moving forward, and we need your voice as we take this important next step!

We’re beginning a process called Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), a way of looking at our congregation and community through the lens of our strengths, resources, relationships, and opportunities. This process is central to our requirements of this program.

ABCD helps us recognize six types of assets: physical, institutional, associational, narrative, economic, and individual. In other words, it’s about discovering what we have, who we know, what makes us special, and how we can build on those strengths to serve our wider community and attract new partners and support.

We want to hear from you!

What makes UUCCHC special? What stories should we be telling? What talents, connections, and resources might we be overlooking? How can our church and historic building make an even greater difference in Hendricks County?

We’ll explore these questions together during two congregation conversations:

  • Session 1: Sunday, October 25, 2026, 11:30-12:30
  • Session 2: Sunday, November 15, 2026, 11:30-12:30

Both sessions will cover the same topics, so please attend whichever works best for you. You’re also welcome to attend both.

We will be sharing additional pathways to participate next week for those who are unable to attend either session.

Your experiences, ideas, and perspectives are essential to this process. Together, we’ll uncover the strengths that will help shape UUCCHC’s future and build broader community support for our mission.

We will be sharing regular updates by email, our Facebook group, our Discord, and our website of the Sacred Places New Dollars/New Partners process. Because this information is so important, we have decided to separate it from our regular newsletter content for the next several months. As a reminder, when we complete the New Dollars/New Partners process in the spring, we will be eligible for a $25,000 planning grant for a building conditions assessment, followed by eligibility for up to $500,000 in capital grants.
