Singing Resistance
Building courage, connection, and collective power through song
Singing Resistance is a welcoming community of people who use music to support movements for justice, democracy, dignity, and human rights. Together, we learn songs that can be carried into rallies, vigils, public witness, and other moments when communities need courage, hope, and a reminder that none of us stands alone.
This is not a choir, and you do not need musical training or a ‘good voice’ to participate. There are no auditions, performances, or expectations of perfection. Songs are taught by ear, repeated together, and chosen because they are easy to learn and powerful to sing. You are welcome to join loudly, quietly, or simply listen until you feel ready.
Why We Sing
Music has helped people build solidarity and sustain movements for generations. Singing can steady a frightened crowd, communicate shared values, help people remain grounded during difficult moments, and transform a gathering of individuals into a connected community.
Singing is not just for entertainment or a substitute for organizing or action. It is part of the work, one of the ways we strengthen and connect people. Our gatherings are grounded in nonviolence, shared humanity, and the belief that joy and resistance belong together.
Join Us
