You’re Welcome Here, Just as You Are

Visiting a new church can feel like a big step, especially when you’re not sure what to expect, you haven’t stepped into a church in a while (or ever), or you aren’t sure why you are even interested. At the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Hendricks County, we’re glad to help you get comfortable and discover whether this community feels like a place for you.
We welcome people with different beliefs, backgrounds, and experiences, including LGBTQ+ people and families. Some of us believe in God, some don’t, and some are still exploring. We come together through shared values and a desire to build caring relationships.
Bring your questions and your curiosity. There is room to get acquainted at your own pace.
Spend Sunday morning with us
You’re welcome to join us for any or all of our Sunday gatherings.
- Breakfast Club – 9-9:45 a.m.
- Sunday Service – 10-11 a.m.
- Coffee Hour – 11 a.m. to noon
Ease into the morning at Breakfast Club, 9 a.m.
Breakfast Club is a casual conversation, usually with donuts and always with room for someone new. If you appreciate a little time to let your body arrive in an unfamiliar space, this can be an easy way to settle in and meet a few people before the service.
Join the conversation or simply listen while you get comfortable. Everyone is welcome.
Breakfast Club meets in the downstairs Fellowship Hall at 9 a.m. Sundays, which requires using a half flight of stairs.
Join us for the service, 10 a.m.
Our services include music, readings, a time for reflection, and a message from a guest speaker, minister, or congregation member. We light a chalice, the symbol of Unitarian Universalism, and make space to acknowledge the joys and concerns in our community. An offering supports the congregation and its work.
We draw inspiration from religious traditions, humanist thought, science, the arts, and the natural world. Topics and speakers change from week to week, so each Sunday offers something a little different.
You’re welcome to listen and get a feel for the gathering. If church has been a complicated part of your story, we understand that getting comfortable may take time.
Stay for Coffee Hour, 11 a.m.
Coffee Hour is a chance to continue a conversation, ask questions, and get to know the people around you. If you’re coming alone, let a greeter know you’d appreciate an introduction. We’ll be happy to help you find a friendly face.
Finding us and parking
95 N. Jefferson Street
Danville, Indiana 46122
Our parking lot is on the south side of the building, and there is plenty of free street parking nearby. (Friendly reminder: Some of the surrounding lots are privately owned. Please check for any restrictions before parking your vehicle.)
You may enter through either entrance:
- Jefferson Street doors: This entrance has a ramp.
- Clinton Street doors: This entrance has stairs.
Look for anyone wearing a “Greeter” or “Board Member” nametag. They can answer questions and help you find your way around.
Bringing children
Children and families are welcome at UUCCHC. We offer childcare and learning programs during the Sunday service. A greeter or board member can help you find the right space and explain the arrangements for that morning. Children are also welcome in the sanctuary throughout service.
If you’d like to ask questions before bringing your family, please contact us at office@uucchc.org.
Accessibility and getting comfortable
Ramp access is available through the Jefferson Street entrance. Our building also has limitations: the downstairs Fellowship Hall requires using stairs, and the upstairs restroom has accessibility limitations.
If you have questions about access or accommodations, please email office@uucchc.org before your visit. We want you to have clear information about the space and what to expect.
Get acquainted beyond Sunday morning
You can also meet people through activities such as Poetry Night, gaming gatherings, Singing Resistance, laughter yoga, and our Pagan and Earth-Centered Religions group. These gatherings are open to visitors, whether or not you attend Sunday services. Explore our calendar for an opportunity that interests you.
We also have a private Facebook group and a Discord server. Speak with a Greeter or Board member if you’re interested in connecting with us there. We also encourage everyone to subscribe to our newsletter where we share upcoming events and updates about life within and beyond our congregation.
We’d be glad to meet you
Come on your own, bring someone along, or contact us beforehand if an introduction would help. Whether you begin with a Sunday service, a conversation over donuts, or a community gathering, we look forward to getting to know you.
