Norse Lore tells of the Norns who dwelled at the base of the world tree, Yggdrasil, by the Well of Urðr (Urðarbrunnr), weaving the threads of fate. The Norns, by their very existence, present two fundamental questions in human nature. To what degree does our Past determine our Present and to what degree is our Future set?
