Gear Up for Christmas Day Dinner

It's that time of year again to donate and volunteer for the Christmas Day Dinner (CDD). If you would like to donate to the CDD, you can choose to do this by one of these methods. There is a donate button on the UUCC website at http://www.uucchc.org/ChristmasDayDinner.html through paypal. You do not have to sign up for paypal to use this; you can use your credit card. If you write a check, please make it out to UUCC and note that this is For Christmas Day Dinner or CDD. If you would like to donate cash, please use an envelope and mark CDD on the front.

The following are the volunteer opportunities we need to fill for the CDD. Below is the date, time frame and number of people still needed. You can volunteer for more than one area provided the times don't overlap. If you are interested in helping with any of these areas, please let us know by sending an email to christmasdinner@uucchc.org or by calling the CDD hotline at (317) 563-1396. If you have questions or need more information, please contact Pat Pollack at patnumb1@aol.com.

The CDD committee thanks you for your support!

Help Toy Committee with Santa's Workshop Set-up

Please be aware that the Pitch-in scheduled for 12/14 has been CANCELLED since the Toy Committee will be preparing the Fellowship Hall for the Santa Workshop.  In case you have no idea what that is, we are inviting parents to come to our church during specific time slots between 12/16 and 12/18 to select toys for their youngsters. Santa's Workshop will be open for parents to select toys during the following times:

  • 10 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday (12/16 - 12/18)
  • 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

If anyone is interested in helping, please email Sherry Zerbe, szerbe1@earthlink.net or Faye Ferrell, ferrellf8@gmail.com.  A sign-up sheet will also be available on Sundays in the Overflow Room.

We will continue to deliver toys with meals or distribute toys at the Christmas buffet for those parents who prefer.  Therefore, On Sunday, 12/14, during a shortened Social Hour (in this case a half hour), the congregation will be asked to help unload the toys, clear out the Fellowship Hall and set up the tables for the WorkshopSet-up will begin at 11:30.

Pizza (free will offerings gladly accepted) will be ordered for those, including the WICKS, who can stay to help set up toys.

OWLS should bring a bag lunch that day and will be meeting upstairs in the overflow room.

We will be collecting wrapping paper and tape on Sunday 12/7 and 12/14.  At this time, most parents appear to be interested in selecting their children's gifts.  Therefore, please bring in your wrapping paper and tape donations early so we can provide these items to parents when they come to the Santa's Workshop.  Please give these items to Sherry Zerbe, Faye Ferrell, Dee Carmen or Cindy Haverly.

Christmas Day Dinner is collecting unused Christmas cards to be signed on 12/14.  These cards will be delivered with the meals.  Please give these to Pat Pollack or any toy committee member listed above.

Toy Collections

Please bring your Toy Donations to church this Sunday THROUGH December 14th. or if you have difficulty getting them to church in a timely manner you can contact Faye Ferrell ferrellf8@gmail.com or Sherry Zerbe szerbe1@earthlink.net and we can make arrangements for pick up. Often these may be the only gifts the children receive. Last year we provided gifts for over 118 children! Thank you for your toy donations! We will accept new or CLEAN, GENTLY used UNWRAPPED toys for Newborn to 12 years old.

If you're interested in helping with the Christmas Day Dinner next year and not already a member of the committee, please contact Pat Pollack at patnumb1@aol.com
