Looking for a good read and a group of people interested in discussing it? Look no further than the newly forming UUCC Book Discussion Group. And we are fortunate to have a book club veteran to lead the group! Kristin Roahrig-Malloy has agreed to be the facilitator of this group that will begin meeting on http://choicespregnancycentre.co.uk/privacy-policy/ Wednesday, July 22 at 7:00 p.m. The group’s first book will be The Hero With a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell.
Since its release in 1949, this book has influenced millions of readers by combining the insights of modern psychology with Campbell’s revolutionary understanding of comparative mythology. In these pages, Campbell outlines the Hero’s Journey, a universal motif of adventure and transformation that runs through virtually all of the world’s mythic traditions. As relevant today as when it was first published, this book has profoundly influenced creative artists including authors, songwriters, game designers and film makers.
We’re getting the word out now so that those interested will have plenty of time to get a copy of the book and begin reading. The book is available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million or through the Indianapolis-Marion County Library system. (Also check your local library for availability or through interlibrary loan.) If you are interested in joining this group, Ciudad Nueva contact Kristin Roahrig-Malloy. The Zoom link will soon be established—stay tuned!
Hi Kristin, Sam Carman probably remembers me and my kids Kevin and Kimi Badger. We were some of the original members of the Danville UU group. I am now in California but still always read your news letters and think of the group often. I read about your zoom book club doing Joseph C’s book and was wondering if an out of state past member could join in? Sincerely, Barbara
