So my husband Scott and I have friends, Matthew and Petra, who are organic farmers. They have owned, managed, and ran, a successful organic heirloom regional seed company just south of our farm in the Rochester, NY area. By all accounts, they have been the darlings of the small seed world. Profitable, good to their employees, skillful with social media, and generous with recipes, and classes for gardeners on when and how to sow, maintain, propagate and harvest the myriad of vegetables and fruit they grow and the seeds they then offer.
About a year ago, they asked my husband if he would be their spiritual director, as they were thinking of bailing on the market economy. They were contemplating selling the company and becoming part of the gift economy. They needed someone to guide them through their discernment process, Scott was honored to companion them on that journey…
