Are you troubled by the lack of civility in modern America? Would you like to think more deeply about American greatness and the qualities that make it possible? The next speaker in our Chautauqua series will be Malkah Bird who will address the topic “Not a Conflict: Against Antisemitism and For Palestinian Rights”.
What does antisemitism look like today and how is it connected to other struggles for freedom and liberation? At a time when bias and bigotry are a part of the national conversation and accusations of antisemitism are becoming increasingly frequent, what is our framework for discussing oppression like antisemitism and Islamophobia?
Malkah Bird, a community organizer with Jewish Voice for Peace and the American Friends Service Committee, will talk about her own experience as a Jewish person whose understanding of antisemitism evolved when she became involved in the Palestinian liberation movement. Please plan to join us for an evening of stimulating discussion!
The series is being held the second and fourth Sunday evenings of each month from April 14th through September 22nd and is coordinated by Philip Gulley. Each session will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature a knowledgeable speaker on that evening’s topic. More information can be found in the series announcement.
