Polatlı (Birth – Age 2)

nursery1

The Nursery provides our youngest children with caring supervision in an interesting, orderly, and safe environment.  The children may explore, curl up with a book, or choose simple activities.

Parents are welcome to bring down their smallest children before church begins.  If children ages 2 – 5 prefer to play in the nursery rather than participate in the first part of the worship service, they are welcome to do so.  When the other children and teachers come downstairs for class, a teacher will invite any older children to attend the Preschool class.

After worship service, please find your child and let him or her finish whatever is of immediate interest to them.  Then, help your child to put that activity away.  At this point our nursery teacher leaves.  Your child is welcome to continue playing in the nursery under your supervision throughout social hour.  Parents are welcome to sit and visit in the nursery area.  Again, please work with your child to put each item away after play.

We welcome your comments, and we depend on your participation.  Here’s how you can help in the Nursery:

  • If your child needs your presence to secure a happy transition to the nursery, you are welcome to stay for as long as that takes.
  • Please label all diaper bags and give any instructions to the teacher.
  • Please do not bring personal toys, drinks, or snacks into the nursery.
  • Please help us clean up the Nursery after church.
  • Please closely supervise your child during social hour.

Please let us know if you or your child has any concerns about the class.  We look forward to our year with your child!

Another option available to parents of the youngest children is to sit in the quiet corner just to the side of the sanctuary.  Your baby or toddler can sit on your lap while you rock or play with simple toys at your feet.  You may be able to divide your attention between the service and your child.  If your child becomes especially fussy, you are always welcome to join them in the nursery.

After the Service

 Picking Up Your Child:

  • Please pick up your young children from the Nursery and Preschool classes promptly.  They are so happy to be reunited, and our teachers like to know the children will be in good hands.
  • Older children may be finishing up their lessons as you come downstairs.  When their door is open, they are free to socialize with their friends in the RE rooms or come find you in the Fellowship Hall.  Of course, you are also welcome to check in with them!

Using the Nursery Space:

  • The Nursery in the back of the Fellowship Hall is available to all children during social hour, but no teacher is on duty at this time.  In addition to the obvious activities, there are others for school-aged children in a basket on the table.
  • Please help us keep this area safe and orderly for the youngest children:
    • Please keep personal toys out of this space.
    • Please put activities neatly back in the basket or on the shelves.
    • Parents are asked to closely supervise children in this area and are encouraged to sit in or near the space for best visibility.
